Developmental Editing

We read your manuscript with fresh eyes and provide comprehensive feedback on the big-picture elements: what’s working brilliantly, where the story loses momentum, which scenes need to be expanded or cut, how to restructure for maximum impact, and where your themes could resonate more deeply.

We don’t rewrite your book for you—this is your story to tell—but we give you clear, actionable notes on exactly how to fix what’s stuck. Think of developmental editing as a roadmap through your revision, showing you where the foundation needs shoring up and how to rebuild it stronger. By the time you finish implementing our edits, you’ll have a manuscript that fully realizes your vision.

A manuscript of about 80,000-90,000 words costs approximately $5,000-$6000 to edit, but price will depend on word count and the nature of the project.

Perhaps you simply want the language to be polished until it shines. Developmental editing is an overview, big-picture process. Editing is where we get into the weeds and start cutting and re-arranging your book to bring it to the highest industry standard.
